As we found ourselves among thousands of other spectators at the Symphony at Sunset concert, performed by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, a deep appreciation washed over me. An appreciation of where we live and how fortunate we are to be able to experience live music in such a marvelous setting.
My favorite of the evening was a piece by Michael Conway Baker, “Through the Lions' Gate: III. Mountains.” You could have heard a pin drop during this performance as the sun set over False Creek and the Burrard Bridge. Of course, not being far from “The Lions” gave this piece extra meaning.
